“The Slave” is a sculpture created by Giacomo Ginotti in 1877. The first version is kept at the National Museum of Capodimonte, while another is located at the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Turin.
The woman clasps her arms in front of her chest trying to shake, albeit in vain, the chains that tighten her wrists as a social protest against slavery, then not completely abolished in various parts of the world.
The sculpture is pervaded by a strong sensuality especially in the rendering of the breasts compressed between the arms.
Material: Bronze
Period: first half of the 20th century
Measurements: base 14x14.5cm x 43.5cm Height
