D’Accardi Gian Rodolfo (1906-1993) devoted himself entirely to painting from 1931. His paintings were purchased by the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan, the Museo di Milano and the Amici di Brera. The 1960s and 1970s were the years of his artistic maturity, as demonstrated by the anthological exhibition at the “Cortina” Gallery in Milan in 1970, the notable solo exhibitions in the United States, at the “New York Cultural Center” in 1971, at the “Bernheim–Jeune” Gallery in Paris in 1974 and the highly interesting retrospective at Palazzo Butera in Palermo in 1975. The long stay in the United States marked a decisive turning point in his pictorial path: his painting, which he himself defined as abstract–figurative, now takes on decidedly strong accents of color, expressed by full and intense brush strokes that communicate intensity to the rides, masks and battles.
