Bacchus is a painting made between 1596 and 1598 by the painter Caravaggio. Bacchus is placed next to a table, where we find a ceramic basket full of fruit (apples, figs, pears, peaches, quinces, grapes, a pomegranate, etc.). Bacchus looks at the observer, showing him a glass cup full of red wine, just poured from a bottle placed next to it.
The original work is preserved in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
Technique: oil on canvas
Period: mid-1900s
Painting dimensions: 100 x 100 cm
Conditions: The condition of the painting is good and the colors are vivid and firmly anchored to the canvas. There is no frame as the work is also painted on the 4 edges and was made to be hung without a frame. Some signs of aging not enough to affect the overall beauty of the painting which is large in size.
