A rare and intense representation of the Christ child who displays the Host as a sign of the sacrifice that awaits him. His heart is pierced by a crown of thorns and his feet are chained. In his hand he holds an edge of the chain, a symbol of the liberation he will bring.

The painter's signature is difficult to read, but as can be seen in the photo, the date 1879 can be read.
