“Ecce Homo” are the words that Pontius Pilate, Roman governor of Judea, pronounced while showing the crowd Jesus scourged and crowned with thorns. The painting (oil on canvas) depicts the Ecce Homo represented by the suffering face of Christ emerging from the precious gold-copper background with his eyes turned to Heaven in the typical style of Guido Reni, one of the greatest exponents of 17th-century classicism. On the back of the canvas there are some writings to be understood as the title of the work and probable signature of the author.
